PERMIT INFO & FEES

Things to Consider:

Setbacks & Building Clearances – Setbacks and building clearances will vary depending on the municipality & zoning of your property.

Right-of-Way & Utility Easements  – Structures need to maintain a clearance ranging between 4 ft – 10 ft from any ROW or utility easements on your property.  Check property records, parcel maps, surveys and grant deeds for any potential extant easements on your property.  Home (sdarcc.gov)

Water Meter / Service Upgrade – Exceeding a threshold on your total water fixture count (i.e. sinks, toilets, showers, etc.) will require an upgrade to the water meter and service line.  A backflow preventer may be required depending on the increase in demand.

Overhead Powerlines / Height of Structure –A two-story structure is typically required to maintain a 10’ clearance from any overhead powerlines.  Please consult with your service provider to check for any potential height constraints.

Coastal Overlay Zone - If your property is located in a Coastal overlay zone it may require approval from the Coastal Commision. Article 7: Elections, Campaign Finance and Lobbying
